Now is the time to be prepared to beat powdery mildew issues before they start on your cannabis plants.
#1. Pay close attention to your plants
Although this seems simple, many people do not check their plants every day and find a powdery mildew infestation after it has already caused damage…check for yellowing and circular spots of mildew and remove infected leaves immediately. Do not be lazy about this! Prevention and early identification is key!
#2. Establish a healthy rhizosphere
Use beneficial microbes and compost teas to fix nitrogen and create a living soil that establishes overall plant health so they are more resistant to powdery mildew.
#3. Keep good airflow and circulation
Keep a close eye for too much humidity in your canopy…keep good air flow, pruning, proper spacing to ensure that you keep the humidity at a good level to avoid infestation of powdery mildew.
#4. Water your plants regularly and EARLY in the day
High humidity and dry conditions are ideal for powdery mildew to form. Be sure to water your plants and keep good moisture…water washes off spore activity before it has a chance to take hold. Too much water makes for other issues, so be sure to keep a balance and water early to beat powdery mildew.
